I was scheduled to get induced on January 14th but instead I woke up at 5 in the morning on Jan 7th having contractions. They got worse throughout the day so at midnight we decided to head the the hospital. After being there till 3am they sent us home saying I had a few more days till I'd be ready. I couldn't imagine having these contractions for a few more days. So we went home and didn't tell anyone I was in labor because if it was still going to take awhile I didn't want our families worrying about it. I didn't think it was possible for the pain to get worse but it did so at midnight Saturday I made Andrew turn off COD Modern Warfare and we headed to the hospital again. Once we got there the nurse said my contractions were not regular enough and she made me walk the halls in hope that it would help speed the whole process along. I don't know if it did but it was the most painful walk I have ever taken. When I got back my contractions were pretty much the same. She said I would still have a few more days, it was very discouraging. There's no way I could have gone through that for another day. But she called the doctor and she said to admit me. Right away she gave me a shot in my hip for the pain and I told her I wanted an epidural as soon as possible. Four hours later it was 8am and the daytime nurse came in and finally gave me the epidural, the overnight nurse had forgotten about me. Once I got that I passed out. I was so tired!! I hadn't slept since Thursday night and that was for only 4 hours. After the epidural everything went along smoothly. I stared pushing at 12:20pm and at 12:37pm on January 9th we had our precious little baby boy.
I had thought it was going to be a girl, obviously I wrong and Andrew was right. But that meant I didn't have a name picked out. So we just called him Boy. He was a big boy! 9lbs 1oz and 20in long. That explains why I was so huge! Once we got settled we sent out a text message to all of our family and friends telling them our good news.
Andrew was able to go back with the nurses while they bathed our baby and got him all checked out. I was jealous because I could hardly move. But we got lots of fun pictures of him crying through the whole process. Once we got to our room we had some family come visit but all our baby would do was sleep and we were okay with that.
